Designed by his lifelong friend and collaborator Ward Ritchie and bawdily inscribed to Ritchie's companion, actress and fine press printer Gloria Stuart. Powell grew up with Ward Ritchie (fellow bookman and printer extraordinaire) in Southern California where the two of them were part of an intimate group in the late 1920s and early 1930s that included M.F.K. Fisher, Gloria Stuart and her first husband, sculptor Gordon Newell. Fine.
