Heavy brown papers with a rattan pattern, white plastic comb binding that allows book to lay flat, which is important for the interior photographs and drawings. Light chipping and wear, very clean and overall which is not always the case with this book.
Originally published in 1937, the Raymonds were displaced from Japan by World War II, but upon their return after the war resumed their architectural practice in the country. In 1947 they updated and republished this book which highlights both their designs for buildings, furniture, and interiors, as well as traditional Japanese architecture with both photographs and cross section drawings.
